The studio has adapted through every shift in the industry and built a practice grounded in doing solid work and building lasting relationships. Popgun is a small studio — that is not a limitation. Every project gets direct, senior-level attention from start to finish, with no layers of management between client and the work. The studio works two ways: 1. As a full-service design and development partner for brands and companies 2. As a development partner for design agencies and independent designers who need a trusted builder to bring their concepts to life ### History Earlier in its history, Popgun built an extensive portfolio in the arts, education, and cultural sectors, including over a dozen virtual museum and archive projects for institutions such as the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, Heritage Canada, UBC Sauder School of Business, and the Nelson Museum. Other notable clients from that era include CBC, BC Hydro, and Disney Interactive. Over the past two decades the primary focus has been in the real estate development sector. Popgun has worked with most of the major developers and marketing agencies in the Vancouver market, handling everything from individual project launches to full corporate web presences. --- ## Who You're Working With Kyle McIntosh founded Popgun in 1999 and has been running it as a one-person studio since 2003. He works from a home studio in Deep Cove, North Vancouver. His method is practical and hands-on: design should work as well as it looks, and code should do what it promises. He oversees every aspect of each project, from initial concepts through final deployment, bringing in trusted specialists when a project calls for it. Kyle got his start during the dot-com era — including a brief stint inside a Vancouver startup during the boom years — before returning to independent practice after the bubble burst. That early experience gave him a grounding in how fast the digital world moves, and a healthy skepticism toward hype. Over 25 years he has worked on everything from cultural showcases and museum archives to some of the most prominent real estate developments in British Columbia.
